Question 1

Get started: set up Securify on your Shopify store

Accepted Answer

In about five minutes, Securify can start checking every visit to your store against the rules you choose: countries, IP addresses, VPNs and bots. This guide walks you through the setup inside Shopify, step by step.

Before you start

Securify runs on your Online Store through a theme app embed, so you need an Online Store theme.
You need permission to install apps and edit themes in your Shopify admin.

Step 1: Install Securify

Open Securify on the Shopify App Store and click Install.
Review the permissions and approve them.
Securify opens inside your Shopify admin. You can always find it again under Apps → Securify.

Step 2: Choose what to block

The first screen asks Which countries do you want to block?

Search for the countries you don't sell to and add them. Country rules are unlimited on every plan.
Click Finish setup (free) to start on the Free plan, or click Protect my store to add more protection.
If you chose Protect my store, pick everything you want to stop on the What are you trying to stop? screen: bots, VPNs and proxies, fake ad traffic, scrapers, fake customers or risky orders. Securify shows the plan that covers your choices. Paid plans start with a free trial.

Step 3: Turn on the Securify app embed (required)

Securify checks visitors through a theme app embed. **Until the embed is on, visitors are not checked and yo

Question 3

Block access from certain countries

Accepted Answer

Restricting access to your store based on a visitor’s country helps protect your business from unwanted traffic, reduce fraudulent activity, and improve overall site performance. With the Country Restriction feature, you can easily block or allow traffic from specific countries.

When to Use Country Restrictions

You may want to enable country restrictions if:

Your store only ships to specific regions.
You want to block traffic from high-risk locations.
You are testing your store in certain countries only.

Steps to Restrict Visitors by Country

Log in to your Shopify Admin
- From your Shopify dashboard, go to Apps and open Securify – Block IP & Country.
Navigate to Country Restriction
- In the app’s top navigation bar, click on Country Restriction.
Choose the Countries to Restrict
- From the list of available countries, select the ones you want to block.
- You can also allow only certain countries and automatically block the rest.
Apply the Restriction
- Save your settings. Once saved, visitors from the selected countries will be blocked from accessing your store.
Review Blocked Visitor Logs (Optional)
- You can track and monitor attempts from restricted countries in the Blocked Visitors Logs section for better insights.

Question 4

Why Country Restriction isn't 100% accurate?

Accepted Answer

We use various data sources to identify and block unwanted traffic, including VPNs, proxies, and users from specific locations. While these tools improve accuracy, reaching 100% is impossible due to several factors:

Imperfect Geolocation

IP addresses can only approximate a user’s location. Some regions are mapped accurately, while others may be less precise.

VPNs, Proxies, and Anonymizers

Many users hide their true location using VPNs, proxies, or Tor. Some services are flagged, but new or private endpoints may bypass detection.

Shared and Dynamic IPs

Some IPs are shared among multiple users or reassigned dynamically, so blocking them may inadvertently affect legitimate traffic.

Constantly Changing Internet

IP assignments and anonymization services are continuously updated, making it impossible for any system to block all undesired traffic in real time.

Bottom line:
Blocking based on IP and location is effective as a first layer of protection, but it cannot guarantee that every unwanted visitor will be stopped. For stronger security, it works best alongside behavioral monitoring and other protective measures.

Question 5

Block specific IP address

Accepted Answer

If you want to block a specific visitor from accessing your store, you can add their IP address to the Blacklist. This ensures that anyone using that IP will be automatically denied access.

When to Use IP Blacklisting

You may want to block an IP if:

You’ve detected suspicious or fraudulent activity.
A visitor is repeatedly attempting chargebacks, spam, or abuse.
You want to prevent access from a known unwanted source.

Steps to Add an IP to the Blacklist

Log in to your Shopify Admin Go to your Shopify Admin dashboard.
Open the App Navigate to Apps → Securify – Block IP & Country.
Go to IP Management From the app’s top navigation bar, click IP Management.
Find Enter IP to restrict form on the page
Add the IP Address
- Enter the IP address you want to block into the field provided.
- Example: 192.168.1.1.
Save the IP Click Restrict IP. The IP will now appear in your Blacklist table.

What Happens Next?

Visitors using that IP will be denied access to your store immediately.
Blocked attempts will still appear in Visitor Intelligence and Blocked Visitors Logs.
You can remove or edit entries at any time in the Blacklist IPs section.

Frequently Asked Questions

❓ Can I add multiple IPs at once? Yes. For multiple IPs, use the Bulk Add option in the IP Management t

Question 6

When to Use Disable Mode

You may want to disable the app if:

You’re troubleshooting access issues with legitimate customers.
You want to test your store without restrictions in place.
You’re temporarily allowing traffic from all regions and IPs.

Steps to Enable or Disable the App

Log in to your Shopify Admin Go to your Shopify Admin dashboard.
Open the App Navigate to Apps → Securify – Block IP & Country.
Go to Settings From the app’s top navigation, click Settings.
Toggle the App On or Off
- To disable: Set App mode to OFF.
